Abstract: This paper gives a brief :exposition of the historical background of the emergence of environmental hydrology in China, discusses the main problems of environmental hydraulic engineering in this country,evaluates the effects of irrigation works on enviro-ecology, puts forward the main tasks of the study of chinese environmental hydrolgy and opens up the area of the study of this discipline.
