Abstract: The previous theories and methods of determining the economic threshold in Intergrated Pest Management(IPM)and some of their shortcomings were analysed in the paper. It was not satisfied to decide the economic threshold of pest only according to the rule of “cost of controlling=benefit of controlling”.

Key words: flooding mode, incubation temperature, soil sterilization/non-sterilization, arsenic species.
