Abstract: As a new concept emerging from landscape ecology and ecosystem health, landscape health is the subject dealing with ecosystem health for landscapes which, under the disturbance of intense activities from human beings, are seriously polluted and degraded, even facing with the risk of disappearing. The basic concept, characteristics and criteria of landscape health were introduced in this paper, and indicators, scales and hierarchical structures and methods for landscape health assessment were also discussed.It was emphasized that comparative, integrative, and developmental methods should be applied in landscape health assessment.
