Abstract: The highest and lowest soil surface CO2 flux occurs in summer and winter, respectively, in the Guizhou Karst areas. The primary factors that influence soil surface CO2 flux are temperature and soil moisture. The latter plays a more significant role when temperature is above 20 ℃. Temperature and soil moisture influence the soil surface CO2 flux by hot-cold cycles and moist-dry cycles under which soil microbial biomass carbon and soil soluble organic carbon can be transformed into soil surface CO2.
