Abstract: From the viewpoint of ecology, rodents play various roles in the grassan.weter they arebeneficial or harmful is rather complex, depending to a greater extent on their total populationwithin a place. The number of harmful rodents is related to the status of vegetation.Under-developed vegeta-tion provides harmful rodents with good habitats, and vice versa. The degeneration of grass-land increases the number of rodents, and which,in turn promotes the degeneration ofgrassland. The recovery of rodent population after control is so quick that the control measures should betaken every year,or with an interval of one year at most.In order to consolidate the achievements on rodent control in grassland, measures for renewalof vegetation must be carried on——seeding grasses, raking and ploughing bared lands,fertilization,etc..
