Abstract: There are many well-growing large natural Chinese firs(Cunninghamia lanceolata)in theevergreen broad-leaved forests in Jiulian Mountain Natural Reserve of Jiangxi Province(within the boundries of Longnan County). The most of the Chinese fir is 50—100 years-old,about 20—25m tall,30—50cm in DBH,and a single-tree volume around 1m3.Theannual increment of a single-tree volume attains 0.013—0.017m3 in the last years, whichshows that the over-maturity of the Chinese fir has not reached yet.The existing of somany large natural Chinese firs may be related to the natural conditions suitable fortheir regeneration and development.
