Abstract: The storages and distributions of nitrogen and phosphorus of Korean pine seedlings at differentages, organs and stand conditions were studied. It was demonstrated that the N content of Koreanpine seedling under Korean pine stands could not meet the needs of the seedling growth.Especi-ally,the lack of N element in needles of pine seedlings under the virginal forest was a seriousdisadvantage for the seedling growth. It was discovered that overstock biomass and over-canopydensity of virgin forest brought about the disorder of N,P metabolism and slow growth rate ofthe seedlings.A proper cutting method to decrease the biomass storage and canopy density ofpine forest stands was suggested to create a better environment for the seedling growth.
