Abstract: The leaves of 6 Salix species collected from different altitudes show two common SOD bands with Rf 0,39 and 0.45. They are characteristic for the genus. Salix rotundifolia and S. metaformosa have new bands, which are indicative for the high elevation environment. SOD activities are much higher for willows distributed at higher elevation. It is indicative for the strength of environmental stress and the adaptation of species to the environment.
