Abstract: This study is conducted from March to December,1987,in agricultural area of west Shandong plain, where the feral striped hamster(Cricetulus barabensis) is one of the main rodents. Two parameters of adrenal gland and male testis weights are treated statistically, other biochemical parameters are comprehensively analysed in relation to the populationdensity, age and different seasons.Within the striped hamster population in west Shandongplain, there exists a behavior-endocrine self-regulation mechanism. The adrenal glandweight and plasma cortisol value can be used as indices for predicting the population states.
