Study on the Hibernation of Tetranychus cinnabarinus

Abstract: T. cinnabarinus of all developmental stages have been Obsorved in winter in the suburb of Shanghai.The hibernating female mites are found in two colours:purple-brown and lightpurple.The number of light purple individuals increases with the drop of temperature.Thereare more individuals at quiescences stage than those at mobile stages in the coldestperiod.A few of eggs are laid by the 'summer' females at higher temperature.Their overwintering hosts are chiefly weeds and some vegetables.
