Biological Measurement and Ecological Observation of Penguin Breeding Populations at the Penla Ardleylsland and Cape Stigant of Antarctica

Abstract: A preliminary study has been made on Gentoo,Adelie and Chinstrap penguins at the Penda Ardley Island and the Cape Stigant of Antarctica from November to December,1982.Theexternal morphology of the three species is described,their breeding habits and populationsizes are also observed,Small populations of the three species with more than 1300 nests,which belong to 20 rookeries are found in a narrow area of northern sea side of the island.A big breeding population of Chinstrap including about 12000 nests is found on thetop of a hill near shore at the Cape Stigant.
