Abstract: In this paper,the balance of soil organic matter(SOM)in the process of agricultural intensification inChangzhou region is studied and a medium-and long-term prediction of its dynamics is made。The re-sults show that during this process, the balance of SOM is getting better,and after a medium or long pe-riod (e.g,10—20 yeats),the SOM content can get to 1—1.25%,which is a balanced value,i.e,themineralized quantity of SOM equals to its humified quantity.
