Abstract: Experiments show that sweet clover, common vetch and Russian vetch are shade-resisting and have strong ability of ratooning, which are suitable to be inter}r mixed planted with cereal and oil crops. Factors that can interact the growth of green manure and main crops are discussed and measures for improving the ratooning of green manure crops are put forward. Up to now, the cropping system of inter-or mixed planting green manure and main crops has been extended in Hexi and similar regions of Gansu province for 6.7 ? 104ha per year.
