Abstract: Sheng's concept of crop growth tediousness, namely uninteresting growth may be defined as various expanded developmental situations of living systems at different levels (individual, population or community), resulting in the departure from the biosystems steady-states by which men can benefit most. This definition has coordinated the essential concepts of "growth tediousness" with economical principle of living beings. Three aspects in relation to the study of growth tediousness and two points which must be considered before using the concept of "growth tediousness" to guide agricultural activities are discussed.

Key words: Yimeng mountainous area, phosphorus loss, sloping peanut land, grass planting between ridges, Lolium multiflorum.
