Abstract: Over_wintering ecology of the white_crowned long_tailed pheasant in the north side of Dabie Mountain in the South of Henan Province had been observed from 1992 to 1994. The white_crowned long_tailed pheasant perched in the wood_land mainly coniferous forest and broadleaf forest, in the mountain valley from 300-900m above sea level. In winter they acted by small groups and stayed overnight on the branches of big trees. There were two obvious heights of acting and feeding in the morning and evening every day. The birds were omnivorous in food habits and feeded mainly with plants in the winter.

Key words: rice-wheat rotation, denitrification-decomposition (DNDC) model, CH4, N2O, global warming potential (GWP).
