Abstract: The study showed that rainfall within growing season was the base of water consumption of crops. The supply from the rainfall reached 76.9%of water consumption. The water consumption of maize, sorghum, millet and soybean was 455.5-541.7mm,445.5-495.0mm,410.8-486mm and 379.8-494.5mm respectively. The maximum water consumption was at the course of jointingheading and milking. The maximum intensity of water consumption was at the course of flowering, while that of soybean was at late flowering to early podding with 5.6-11.1mm穌-1.Water consumption mainly came from 0-100cm soil layer, which provided more than 90% of the water consumption.Water within 0-50cm soil layer was utilized strongly by crops.Water from 100-150 cmsoil layer was less used and with different extents by different crops.
