Abstract: The active organic carbon in soil involved dissolved organic carbon, available carbon, mineralizable carbon, oxidizable carbon, and microbial biomass carbon . The determining methods of the active organic carbon in soil and its relation to environmental factors were reviewed. Some recent research results on the active organic carbon in soil and its ecological effects were discussed. Based on this, some prospects on the active organic carbon in soil and its ecological effects were put forward.

Key words: zinc, aging factor, form, eco-toxicity threshold, soil property.
