Abstract: Metapopulations were categorized into four major types by Harrison; classical metapopulations, mainland-island and source-sink metapopulations, patchy populations, and non-equilibrium metapopulations. This paper reviewed the genetic consequences of the four types of metapopulation, from theoretical and empirical studies.

Key words: forest plantation, eddy covariance, carbon flux, carbon source.
