Abstract: Due to different photosynthetic process, there is obvious difference in δ 13C values between C3 plants and C4 plants. It is a useful method to trace with stable carbon isotopes in soil organic matter when studying turning ecosystems, where C3 plants (or C4 plants)are planted instead of C4 plants (or C3 plants). This paper intends to review and synthesize the recent advances in the research of this subject.
