%X Heavy metal cadmium (Cd), a member of the main pollutants in the soil, has been listed as one of the priority pollutants and human carcinogens. Cd can affect the crop’s growth and development and enter the body to affect human health through the food chain. Existing research shows that the Nramp protein family has played a key role in the regulation process of Cd absorption and transport in the model plant Arabidopsis and rice. However, the Nramp genes involved in the Cd absorption and transport have rarely been reported in the soybean. Through the analysis of soybean database, we found a member of Nramp family, named GmNramp1 (Glyma07g02680). Analysis of the RT-PCR results shows that the 75 μmol·L-1 CdCl2 treatment of soybean root, cotyledon, hypocotyl, and leaves for different time decreases the expression of the GmNramp1 gene. And the transcriptome sequencing result of soybean root treated with Cd also supports the same conclusion of Nramp gene function. The results show that GmNramp1 gene may participate in the absorption and transport process of Cd in soybean. This study provides a theore-tical basis and genetic resources for breeding soybean resistant to heavy metals.
