Abstract: Determinations of CO2 uptake rate, sucrose content, activities of sucrose phosphate synthase (SPS),sucrose synthase(SS)and invertase and ATP/ADP value show that low level SO2(200μg·m-3)can instantaneously stimulate the uptake of CO2 by Picea asperata seedlings.Compared with control, seedlings exposed to low level SO2 show an obvious decline in SPS and SS activities and sucrose content and have a low value of ATP/ADP,which means that the physiological and biochemical processes of seedlings have been disturbed by SO2 before the appearance of visible injuries.
