Abstract: In this paper, microbial reduction of iron, manganese and other metals in soils and waters were discussed. Microorganisms reducing to different metals such as iron, manganese and uranium as well as selenium and their enzymatic and non enzymatic mechanisms for reducing to different metals were summarized. Moreover, the significance of reduction of different microorganisms of metals in the bioremediation of metals contaminated environment was also evaluated.
