Abstract: The biological characteristics in degradation and remediation of red soil as well as its relationships with eco environmental conditions were discussed by using niche concept. With biological cycles as the focal point, the development feature of red soil niche was analysed, and the rules and descriptive methods for degradation and restoration of red soil ecosystems were investigated to establish the methods and indicators for evaluating the degradation of red soils.
