Abstract: In this paper, relations between Kaschin-Beck disease and selenium content of soil and soil humic acids in Northeast China were disccussed. The results show that selenium bounded by humic acids is the major form of selenium in soil, and the content of selenium bounded by fulvic acid is relatively high. There is a significant negative correlation between content of selenium bounded by fulvic acid and morbidity of Kaschin-Beck disease.

Key words: Soil selenium, Humic acids, Fulvic acid, Kaschin-Beck disease
