Abstract: The effect of light on cateching metabolism of tea tree is studied with 14C-isotopic tracertechnique and enzymic analysis method. The results show that light is beneficial to theenhancement of PALactivity in tea tree and to the acceleration of catechin degradation. The catechin content of tea tree is dependent on its synthetic and degradation rates, andits degradation products can take part in the metabolism of other matters.
