Dry deposition flux of air sulphur at a typical red soil area-with Jiangxi Red Soil Station as example

Abstract

Abstract: The concentrations of SO₂ and SO₄^2- in air were observed on farmland at Yingtan,the typical red soil area of Jiangxi Province.Based on data provided by the automatic meteorological station of China Ecosystem Research Network,the dry deposition velocity of SO₂ and SO₄^2- was calculated using a resistance model,and the dry deposition flux of sulphur from the atmosphere to the farmland ecosystem was estimated.The results showed that the average dry deposition velocity(Vd)of SO₂ and SO₄^2- was 0.43 and 0.23cm穝^-1,respectively.The Vd of SO₂ and SO₄^2- in the daytime was significantly higher than that at night,and the highest velocity occurred in the afternoon.The total annual dry-deposition flux of sulphur inputted to farmland ecosystems was 13.4g 穖^-2.
