Abstract: Physical assessment method (PAM) and value assessment method (VAM) for ecosystems services assessment were compared, and their strengths and weaknesses were analyzed. The comparison and analysis demonstrated that in some cases,different, even opposite results will be drawn with these two methods for the ecosystems services assessment of one ecosystem. The functions or effects of PAM and VAM are different for different assessment purposes or different spatial scales, but they will promote and complement each other to some extent.
