Abstract: The effect of composted organic material on the salinity of coastal saline paddy soil and its submerged layer and the uptake of elements by rice plant is studied with rhizobox method. The results show that under no drainage condition.the application of organic material increases the salinity of soil and its submerged layer, but decreases the accumulation of salts in paddy rice rhizosphere. It can enhance the uptake of K, Ca and Mg, and decrease that of Na by rice plant.
